Cherries with ease
Sulekha Turner (Omaha, NB) 9/19/2010 2:27 PM
After years of pitting cherries each summer either by a paring knife (yes, one at a time) or the syringe-type plunger also one at a time, this thing is fantastic. It takes four at once, and the plunge mechanism is a no-nonsense set of four cross-pronged blades. The only issue I have is that you must count the seeds, because since this is less tactile, I can't tell whether it actually caught the seed and pushed it through. The old way I always knew. I'm getting one for each of my baking friends.

Cherry-It Pitter
Anonymous (Unknown) 3/25/2010 12:58 PM
Other cherry pitters I looked at only pitted one cherry at a time. This pits 4 cherries and the pits (seeds) are captured below. It worked pretty well. My adult daughter said she did get a cherry that still had the pit in it. So I recommend double checking the cherries before giving to a young child or a special needs person who may not be able to communicate that there is a pit in that cherry.
