use it as a mailbox security (Anonymous)
This seems to be a good example of a product that is simple, well designed, and just works. For the size, it's quite loud. The sensor is small and unobtrusive. It just works.

I bought and installed a unit (Ohio) on my mailbox a week before Christmas. (It's also not 3' off the ground, as recommended.) It worked great at first, but then one day it went off several times for no reaston. So, I took the sensor completely apart, and cleaned the IR lense. I noticed that the rubber seal was not great. So, when I screwed the unit back together, I sealed the unit with black electrical tape all the way around it. It worked great again, until today with the temp hit -1, and it started going off again as the sun warmed it a little. I believe it is adjusting to the temp again. Try the tape and seal it good!!

I have two of these low-cost alarms set up, and both become quite intermittent when the temperature reaches 90 degrees and above (in the shade): Sometimes they go off when a person/car goes past, and sometimes they do not. As soon as the temperature decreases though, they become much more reliable. I WOULD NOT RECOMENDED THESE DEVICES FOR SECTIONS OF THE COUNTRY WITH HOT WEATHER, SUCH AS ARIZONA, TEXAS, NEW MEXICO, ETC. Original review: I am very impressed with this alarm: It is accurately able to detect people coming up the stairs of my apartment, and sets off the indoor alarm -- and it has not sent out any false alarms (Most problems with this alarm (that I have read in the reviews below) appear to be caused by the sensor being in direct sun light. This seems to cause these units numerous difficulties, and should have been addressed in the Patrol Sensor's enclosed instructions -- but isn't. However, by simply shielding the outdoor sensor from all *direct* contact with the light of the sun by using tape or opaque plastic, or repositioning the outdoor sensor, appears to eliminate false alarms or no alarms). This alarm unit appears to be quite well made, and the price is, of course, incredibly low. Great buy!!

Wireless Driveway Alarm System (Anonymous)
Yes, I have received my recent order. As a matter a fact; my neighbor has already installed it. It took a little time to get it set up, but it has been working ever since. My neighbor came back over, after I thought he left he went in the back where the device is, and broke the beam. I was right there and saw him. He thought I would not hear the loud beep. I did. He told me it was just a test and it worked. Thank you for such a nice device and in-expensive for almost anyone who is having a problem with intruders on their property. Thank you!!! BJK

Excellent Product! Wireless Driveway Patrol Alert Sensor (Anonymous)
I take care of my Grandmother, she had a stroke in May 2006. At times she likes to get up in the evening when I am sleeping and walk around the house or even try to walk out the front door. I put a Driveway Patrol in the house to alert me when she gets up. It works perfectly and has alerted me many times to her night walking. It's probably saved my Gma's life!! I love it! I can sleep peacefully now knowing I will be alerted if necessary!

Driveway Patrol Sensor and Receiver Kit (Anonymous)
The Driveway Patrol Sensor and Receiver Kit is great and works well. I feel it is a little over sensitive and will pick up leaves blowing down to drive sometimes. I built a little box with a open front to help keep water from getting inside but it says it's water proof. I was surprised for the price how well it does work!

My recommendations for driveway patrol alarm. (Anonymous)
Driveway Patrol Notes:
The operating range of Driveway Patrol is up to 400 feet, so please ensure no irrelevant signal from other Driveway that may jam with your remote sensor transmission. To verify if there are any irrelevant signal nearby, install fresh batteries to the base unit BUT leave the remote sensor out of batteries, then let the base unit search for signal. Ensure there is no false alert in the first hour.
PIR care:
PIR type remote sensors detect movement by thermal deviation, when moving your sensor from hot to cold or cold to hot, a sensor unit will require time for thermal stabilization. Until the internal temperature of the PIR sensor equals the ambient temperature, otherwise false alert and/or decreased detection distances may be occurred.
Outdoor usage consideration:
For installing the remote sensor, a stable base a requirement to prevent movement by strong winds. But wind can also cause movement of the surrounding plant or other object. Make sure the place you plan to monitor no easy movable thing. Moving plant of slightly different temperatures can be detected and cause false alert. In large empty area, convection current in the air can cause changes in surface temperature, causing false alert. PIR remote sensor can detect anything that is apparently moving – air, grass, shrub, etc – and has a temperature differing from ambient. This problem could be minimized, but in the unfavorable outdoor condition some false alarm is unavoidable. PIR-based movement sensor can be a highly reliable monitoring tool when properly applied. |

WIRELESS DRIVEWAY PATROL ALARM MOTION SENSOR DETECTOR (Anonymous)
I just wanted to let know..this item is the bomb. I am getting one for my neighbor.I live in a one bedroom apartment and I have the alarm set up to both doors because they are in the same room.I sleep at night with peace. If someone breaks in and steps one foot in my door at both doors the alarm goes off. It will frighten them and it will give me time to call 911 emergency..awesome product...

Driveway Patrol Alarm (Anonymous)
Driveway Patrol works very well for me. I have a large yard with a detached garage and this inexpensive device lets me know when anyone is coming near my home. Mailman, newspaper guy, whoever. It will pick up animals, but with the right mounting height and electrical tape the sensor works as desired. Sensor takes (1)9V while receiver takes (3)C batteries. The only option is the volume of the chime on the receiver. It will continually chime when something enters the sensor area. Easy to install, easy to operate. Battery life has been good. Dependable and inexpensive. Try not to mount the sensor tightly to anything, this seemed to cause alot of false alarms. Also, sunlight hitting a moving tree branch tends to activate the alarm, so trim away any moving limbs or branches and I think you will be satisfied with this product.

We received this as a Christmas gift and really had no need for a driveway alarm. However, we did have a 1 year-old that kept getting out of bed at night and roaming the house. We set this in her doorway and in the middle of the night we would be alerted that our daughter was up. We only turned it on after we tucked her in and it worked great. As a baby patrol it deserves at least 5 stars.

i have an idea for you that may help you sell this item. we finally figured out how all the sodas kept 'disappearing' when i found a half-empty can in his room that he must have forgotten about. we bought this to 'catch' our very sneaky child from going into our small fridge downstairs by the bar and swiping all the sodas we have in it.
it works great!! right after we put it up...within an hour! it was funny as hell! he is SO busted! :-) THANKS!!
if you can incorporate that idea into your ad it may help the sales of it. just a thought, thought it might help you and/or someone else or at least give a giggle...
cindy
thanks again |

I bought six of these units from you to use as sirens to deter deer from my flower gardens. I just wanted you to know that they are working like a charm and you might wish to advertise them for this. We mounted the outside units (infrared device) to pick up the deer as they entered into our gardens. We set the receiver alarms inside dark green plastic containers with lids to protect them from the elements.
They are working better than we had hoped.
Thank you for offering these. |

Protecting Motorcycle Trailer with Driveway Patrol (Anonymous)
I am protecting my enclosed motorcycle trailer, which is in the parking lot of my apartment complex. The signal has to travel through another apartment to get to mine, which is about a total of 200 feet, and it alarms everytime! I have it placed underneath the trailer, pointing in the direction of the side door. If anyone walks up to this door, in the middle of the night, it will alarm, and the alarm is loud enough to wake me up! I can then go see what set it off. It also gives very few false alarms, and those few have all occurred in the daytime - NONE AT NIGHT! Thanks for providing a great unit for the money!
