WONDERFUL ITEM TO OWN!
Ted Spence (Kansas City, KS) 11/24/2010 9:39 AM
I got mine a little a little over two years ago. This is a wonderful item! I haven't had any real problem with mine, it does have a problem with small cans, but it does get the job done. When doing small cans, I stay near by so the can doesn't fall over, and just gentley guide it. Normally, I leave the can on the counter, and start the opener. I go do something else for several seconds, and when it stops, I remove the lid, empty the contents, and toss it in the trash. DONE! I have repleaced the batteries 3 or 4 times, and it's still going strong. Definetly a 5-STAR rating from me! Not only that, when my (then) girlfriend used for the first time, she told me she would marry me IF I brought the can opener with me! LOL She loves it, too! I did, and we got married a few weeks ago.

OK . . . . sooooo far . . . . but ...................
Tom (Raleigh) 6/21/2010 3:50 PM
Just got mine in the mail. I opened a small can of Tuna first. Had a normal lid. I had a hard time figuring out when it was done until the lid tilted into the can spilling that broth all over the countertop. Next, I tried it on the cat food. A small can of 9-Lives with the dangerous pop-top lid. This is the real reason I like side openers. No sharp lid and no sharp little rim around the inside top of the can. I like to run my finger inside to get the gravy or other gooey stuff my cats enjoy so much. Can't do that if you use that pop-top. Purina should offer this opener if you send them a bunch of UPC labels from their cans; because this was close enough to being a success. CONS: I still haven't gotten the jest of a smooth opening operation. Ya know; do ya hold the can and let the opener rotate? Do ya put the can on a slick surface and hold the opener still? Maybe smear olive oil on the counter to allow the can to rotate more easily. Only an idiot like me could come up with problems like these ;) Both openings cut a thin strip of the wrapper. The cut is below the lid leaving an edge that is neither sharp nor dull. My manual side cutter cuts the can on the edge on the lid; thus, no paper mess. It also leaves the lid in place (no magnet) so no spillage and the edge of the can is dull and the lid can be put back on to keep the contents safe. I would prefer the One Touch cut the lid like my manual opener and no I don't start smearing that olive oil prior to using the manual opener. Tom (AKA: "The Eternal Critic")

I simply love this product, except something needs to done about how it gets stuck on cans when the battery goes out. This has happened to me three times, and it is very difficult/ almost impossible to get off!

We love ours! When the battery went dead in the middle of a can, I had the same problem of it not coming off - but I was able to push it slowly around the can. It stayed attached and kept opening the can the rest of the way while I pushed it. Once it made the rest of the way around, it came off like always.

I use this baby at least once a day & absoutley love it. It's been running strong for 10 months now & I've only replaced the batteries once. The kids love to use it also! Every now and then a sliver of the label may get cut off, which I'd hardly consider a con...just grab & toss! When I'm done I clean it with a Lysol wipe & toss it in the drawer~WAH LA!

This product is great. Having had a stroke a couple of years ago. Because of this machine I have been able to improve my eating and nutrition. My only fault is the length of time a battery lasts.I am on my second one as I did not know about getting it off the can if battery goes dead. Thanks for this item.

It Worked For Us
Anonymous (Unknown) 7/11/2008 3:00 AM
We purchased the product to see if it actually worked and it did. To test it further we placed super glue on the lid of a jar and used the product several hours later; it still worked! Search for LabGeeks to find the video.

One Touch Can Opener

I loved it while it worked. But when it stopped in the middle of opening a small can I couldn't get it off. It was completely ruined. There should be a release that would prevent that from happening.

Not fully opened
Anonymous (Unknown) 2/15/2008 9:03 PM
Can Opener does not lift off and stays stuck on can when it stops when can is not fully opened. The opener stopped midway around the can and both can and opener were ruined. Lost a large can of chunk white chicken too since the food could not come out. Can opener is shot now since I can't get it off the can. How about some sort of backup when this happens

if battery goes dead, so does one touch can opener
Anonymous (Unknown) 12/11/2007 10:36 PM
I like the opener; it works great but I started opening a can and the battery went dead. Now, I can't get the opener off the can. I'll probably end up damaging it trying to get it off. I don't think I'll buy another one because of this. There is a warning--do not lift off can until motor stops. However, it doesn't tell you you can't lift it off, if the battery stops.

one touch can opener works
Anonymous (Unknown) 9/26/2007 7:28 PM
This can opener is very easy to use for us older people. We use it in our RV because it stores in a drawer and uses batteries so we dont need to plug in to an outlet and can be outside and still have the convenience of an electric can opener. it opens the top clean. i wish there was a light to tell you if the battery is low. I am also looking for the onetouch jar opener just like the other reviewer. will be back soon.

1 Touch Can Opener
Anonymous (Unknown) 9/23/2007 7:40 PM
This product is great. I was so tired of using other types of can openers, and I've tried them all. With the electric ones the cans would slip off and splash water all over the table. The manual ones also slip off and then I'd have to saw the rest of the lid off with a steak knife. Both types leave a very sharp lid. I've cut my fingers many times. The OneTouch solves all the problems associated with opening cans. You just place the One Touch can opener on top of the can press the button and the One Touch does the rest. This can opener even leaves a lip on the top of the lid so you can close the can. Fantastic! I just recently saw the TV infomercial for one touch jar opener but I searched as seen on tv guys website and could not locate it. I e-mailed them and they said, they will have it in about 2 weeks so I will come back for one touch jar opener also. They told me that one touch jar opener is from same company as the one touch can opener. Can't wait to get my jar opener.

One Touch Can Opener-AWESOME
Anonymous (Unknown) 7/28/2007 9:44 PM
This product is just fantastic. I have carpal tunnel, and with 3 dogs and a cat, I open ALOT of cans!!! It is easy, and I just changed the batteries for the first time. I used a butter knife to pry it open, and it works like a charm. If the can gets stuck, change tha batteries and restart the opener. No complaints here!!!!!

This darned thing actually works!
Anonymous (Unknown) 4/4/2007 2:00 AM
My dubious expectations were reinforced when I first held it in my hand. It is small (about 6"long and 2" wide at it's widest point). I have had electric can openers five times it's size and power that did not work reliably! Further, I found it difficult to believe that 2 AA batteries could provide sufficient power to generate the torque this thing would need to do it's job. I also thought that it looked pretty vulnerable and feared dropping it for the first time. I was delighted to be found wrong on all counts. I have dropped it three times. Not only does it still function well, but the case never even came apart (as with many dropped small appliances); the torque created is absolutely adequate to open ANY can - and the device requires, literally, no human effort beyond that of placing it correctly on the top of a can and pushing one button. It stops itself when it is done. The original batteries, by the way, still power it fully after three months of near daily use! Did I already say I am astounded? It is small enough to be stored on a shelf or in a drawer but not so small as to be easily lost or misplaced. It is a welcome replacement for shelf standing, plug-in electric can openers - and for the old turn-by-hand ones that my aging fingers and wrists can no longer tolerate. I don't think you can go wrong with one of these - even if you use it only as a back-up. For the cost, it is a great value and much more reliable than most "AS Seen ON TV" products I have experienced.
