I purchased my Sonic XL online and it's been a big help when I watch TV or have an in-person conversation with someone. I have 40% hearing loss in my right ear due to chronic ear infections as a kid. The only con (for me) is that the unit sometimes emits a 'feedback squeal'. Otherwise, I'd recommend it for anyone with moderate hearing loss.

I purchased the Silver Sonic XL hearing amplifier for my dad who has had problems hearing for quite a while but could not afford the more expensive hearing aids. He immediately noticed a difference, and commented that even his voice sounded different to him when wearing the device. I was impressed with the improvement in his hearing, and he became much more sociable and able to participate in normal conversation because he was hearing what was being said to him more clearly.

I bought the Sonic Super Ear for my husband, who listens to the T.V. so loud that it gives me a headache and send the pets running! He said that he was able to hear every word of the movie we watched last night, and I had the movie at a volume set for me. The down side is that when I would talk to him, he'd wince and tell me 'not so loud'! It does amplify EVERYTHING.
