Jumbo Potato Cutter

When I was growing up my aunt had an old fashioned french fry cutter and since then I have been on the market for a good one for my family. I have been through a few cutters. Some were too small to fit large potatos, and some were too weak to cut through really starchy and hard potatoes. I am satisfied with this cutter. The suction cup has a lever which fastens it quite nicely to the counter, unlike a typical suction which uses pressure and moisture. The push bar is strong and large enough to offer nice leverage to push the potato all the way through the blades, unlike others where the potato gets stuck half way through. I recomend that if you are concerned about your own abaility to push lever for the blade hard enough, simply place the unit on the counter so the potato shoots away from you (onto a plate towards the wall) and close enough to the edge of the counter so you can easily distribute the appropriate body weight to push it down. If I want to cut yams or sweet potatoes, I do have to be careful about shopping for the appropriate length since they tend to be longer than other varieties. Other than that, this is a great cutter thats sure to please.
